Hi Natty,
I am having a problem getting the video to work in the player. I understand it is only youtube that works. This is what I have done so far:
1. Set up new post linked to Video category
2. Set value to Video, and add the URL to the custom field.

I have done the above but just get a blank screen. When I select the "embed" code at youtube I'm not sure which bits to remove from the code which appears as follows : I have read your notes which say no" and take the url starting at http:// but where do you end in order to the video to work - I would be grateful if you could advise as I am simply guessing at the moment with no luck - many thanks David

you need to create custom field Video and insert http://www.youtube.com/v/6hiPrsc9g98 as value for that field

Many thanks for the update which I have tried but it is still not working - sorry. This is what I have done so far:

1. I have a category called Video, category slug is Video, category parent none, no description.
2. I have opened a post and written a few words. Then in the custom fields I have name= sociable off, and value=false ( I assume these have been entered automatically?) Below this I have added a news set - name=Video, and value= http://www.youtube.com/v/6hiPrsc9g98. This still does not seem to work.
If the value is the link above, where do I add the emed code from Youtube for the video I actually want on the site?
Sorry if I am being dim here as this is the first time I have added video to a site

Great - it now works fine although I am still a little confused and would be grateful if you could clarify the following:

1. When I select the embed code from the Youtube site, do I have to remove all the "layout stuff" and just pick the url off?
2. I then have to insert or add watch?v = after the backslash?

I would be grateful if you could confirm.

One other point - when visitors land on the page the video is just black with no image - is this possible to modify in any way so that visitors have an image to attract them to the player rather than a blank screen ( we will be ordering a load of mods with Dave shortly so if there is a cost for this pleas just let Dave know and quote a price ) ?

1) you need to pick data from URL field it usually goes with watch?v = after
2) yes, we have a black screen, but this is actually how this video player works.

Many thanks for the update which is appreciated. I have tried other videos and these work fine once you pick the url and ad the watch?v.

Is there any chance the player could be modified to work with a still image rather than black screen? ( happy to pay if this is an option?) - regards David

I've just uploaed the theme to the new site and am setting it up. The site is at http://www.spot-gold-price.org - I have set the video up which works fine when you click on the link, but for some reason the player does not show up in the sidebar as a blank screen anymore? Please can you advise - many thanks David

Did you setup Video category in Tribune Options?
