I'm having a great deal of trouble getting this to work (and I don't think I'm alone).

The advice I've had so far is to make sure the cache folder has permission set to 777.

I first did this by using my ftp program, but there was no change. Reading other posts, it seemed that this might be a problem with the virtual web server that I am using (Primus/Magma). Indeed, there probably is an issue since they responded:

---
The file system used to store the files is actually CIFS, and not the Unix file system.  I will escalate your request to our Service Platforms team, to ensure that the folder in question has permissions equivalent to the Unix "777".
---

I don't understand much of this, but anyway they made some changes and sent me the following message:

---
The files permissions are now set to 777
The permission are 777 i.e read write

drwxr-xr-x 5 bttrbrdg bttrbrdg 4096 Nov 16 11:35 ./ drwxr-xr-x 6 bttrbrdg bttrbrdg 4096 Nov 16 11:34 ../ drwxrwxrwx 10 bttrbrdg bttrbrdg 4096 Nov 16 11:35 Simplix/ drwxr-xr-x 2 bttrbrdg bttrbrdg 4096 Nov 9 12:44 classic/ drwxr-xr-x 3 bttrbrdg bttrbrdg 4096 Nov 9 12:44 default/
-rw-r--r-- 1 bttrbrdg bttrbrdg 30 Nov 13 00:36 index.php
root@unixvws1:/magma/users/u30/bttrbrdg/public_html/blog/wp-content/themes: #

but folder name is Simplix

As for the files / folders mentioned below.

This is not on CIFS.(Common Internet file Systems)

Hence the permissions for them has been changed to 777.

lvoina@e1:~:> screen -d -r 3842.e1main drwxr-xr-x 5 bttrbrdg bttrbrdg 4096 Nov 16 11:35 ../
-rw-r--r-- 1 bttrbrdg bttrbrdg 1738 Nov 13 13:39 404.php drwxr-xr-x 2 bttrbrdg bttrbrdg 4096 Nov 13 13:58 PSD/
-rw-r--r-- 1 bttrbrdg bttrbrdg 2648 Nov 13 13:39 archive.php
-rw-r--r-- 1 bttrbrdg bttrbrdg 1557 Nov 13 13:39 archives.php drwxrwxrwx 2 bttrbrdg bttrbrdg 4096 Nov 16 11:35 cache/

I eagerly tried once more to see if a picture got resized in the Featured Articles page. No luck. So now I have no idea where to go from here.

I am one of the ones who reported this issue, and also only got the response that my cache folder permissions were the issue (which I knew was not the case).

The problem was resolved when I looked into the code and saw that there was reference to a thumb.php file, which does not exist in the theme download.

I have several nattywp themes, so I finally decided to try and place a thumb.php file from another theme into my theme folder and the resizer started working.

I am not sure why the developers are not responding to this - it is very frustrating to find this simple resolution and not have it acknowledged or corrected.

Well, the resizer is now working. I contacted support and they initially couldn't get it working and felt that there must still be a problem with the permissions. However, the technician then re-uploaded the theme, and all of a sudden the images began appearing. The technician has no idea why.

Perhaps something 'good' happens when the thumb.php file gets replaced - as suggested by raweiss. I assume it's supposed to be common for all themes, but there's obviously something amiss.

Anyway, at least it's working...so onward and upward to deal with other issues.

I downloaded the theme several times, and thumb.php was never in the package.

Perhaps my file area has the wrong packages, but that was the case for me, and it is probably the case for everyone else who has this issue.

I don't know from where you downloaded the theme, but all the packages downloaded from nattywp goes with thumb.php
If not, please prove it.
